Goals of the Professional Course:

To provide high quality comprehensive training for practitioners of classical homeopathy

• To educate the "whole homeopath," developing skills as well as knowledge, qualities of mind as well as professional competence

Course description:

This four-year course provides a complete training in classical homeopathy, its philosophical background, clinical practice, and professional tools. The course is designed progressively, at each stage linking philosophy and methodology to deepen understanding while perfecting increasingly sophisticated skills. Classroom learning leads to clinical observation and clinical supervision, where students become confident practitioners in their own right.

Every class meeting includes materia medica, philosophy, repertory study, and clinical issues such as casetaking, case analysis, and case management. Methods used in each class meeting are lecture, discussion, question-and-answer, and hands-on exercises done individually and in groups. Materia medica is taught through a case-based method, providing concrete examples on paper and video and building students’ experience with case analysis. Numerous handouts support the material presented in class.

Homework assignments include reading, repertory exercises, materia medica exercises, self-reflection and guided experiences. Students receive written feedback evaluating their homework.

Ann Jerome Croce is the main instructor during Year 1, for consistency during this crucial foundation year. In Year 2, other Academy faculty begin to rotate in, to provide diversity of perspective and practice. We find that this balance of consistency and variety enables students to maintain their own secure understanding of homeopathic principles while developing the ability to assimilate a variety of viewpoints.

The Professional Course is designed for students who can devote a substantial amount of time, but not full time, to their studies. Most students are full-time workers either in or outside of the home. Our weekend class meetings are intense, packing a large amount of information into the short time we are together. In order to minimize travel time and hotel stays, classes in Years 1 and 2 meet for seven three-day weekends each year, from Friday noon to Sunday mid-afternoon, with extended hours for clinical supervision in Years 3 and 4. Our schedule and location are convenient for students who fly or drive in from a distance, and we draw students from all over the country.
